We released a new authenticator: Thunderbird. If you use Thunderbird email client you are lucky. Like with Outlook MAPI Authenticator, it is possible to perform the Challenge-Response procedure natively with Thunderbird. Assuming you have a working and properly configured Thunderbird, the entire process can be done automatically with Thunderbird without introducing any sensitive parameter in the command line interface.
This simplifies enormously the task, as it avoids the use of configure any IMAP or SMTP server and passing the passwords in the command line. It supports multiple profiles and binary paths if necessary.
We hope this new authenticator will make easier the spread of S/MIME certificates!
